Workshops for Schools
Since 2014 I have been facilitating workshops in schools, both in the UK and The Netherlands. These cover a range of topics, but my personal specialism is Shakespeare (See below for some helpful analysis!)
Your students will benefit from an experience that focuses not only on communicating the language structures and devices of the text, but that also incorporates a performance of a section of the play, which they themselves can be involved in. Should a more complete production be required, I can work with my associate company, The Globe Players, to bring an abridged, high energy performance to your students, which incorporates analysis and narration to ensure their understanding is complete.
Joanna came to our school to deliver a devising workshop for our Middle Years students. From the offset students were engaged, enthused and eager to challenge themselves. Joanna has a naturally positive demeanor which enables students to relax and she immediately built an atmosphere of trust. Our students explored a variety of activities and Joanna was able to make links to the Units of Enquiry we are currently studying. The students will be using the activities to inform their own performances. I can thoroughly recommend Joanna’s workshops and I look forward to working with her in the future.

I have recently developed an online-workshop for Secondary school students. Designed with Shakespeare in mind, but suitable for any theatrical text being studied, this is a full day text-to-performance experience, aimed at approaching a studied text from an actor or director's perspective. This invites students to think creatively about characters' journeys and motivations, working as a theatre ensemble to decipher the play and find ways to theatrically portray the themes and wider context. This is a fun and interactive way to experience a theatre workshop without leaving home! Find out more here.

Workshop for Junior Schools
I am now offering a workshop on Storytelling to Junior schools in the Netherlands. This high energy workshop encourages students to explore their creativity, work together and find confidence in their ideas and themselves.
